Milton Garden Club Awards Three Scholarships in 2022
At the June meeting, the Milton Garden Club presented scholarship awards to three recipients. The scholarship in memory of former club member Eileen Johnson was awarded to Sundene Lodge of Milford High School. Sundene will be attending Salisbury University where she plans to major in earth science. She hopes to help the community around her with environmental issues and help keep farmland soils as fertile as possible. Sundene has been an active participant in Future Farmers of America for the last four years and 4-H for 12 years.
The scholarship in memory of Herbert H. Flickinger was awarded to Prabh Kaur of Sussex Academy. Prabh will be attending the University of Pennsylvania majoring in biology. Since an early age, Prabh has been intrigued about plant science and the complexity of life forms. She feels it is important to garden and grow plants to fully understand their impact on the environment. Prabh has been an active member of her school’s green team for the past four years.
Josh Negron of Sussex Central High School was awarded the 2022 Milton Garden Club Hope in Bloom High School Scholarship. Josh will be attending Castleton University in Vermont where he plans to major in business and eventually return to Delaware to start his own landscaping business.
The Milton Garden Club members congratulate this year’s scholarship recipients and wish them much success in the future.
